Not quite sure where to start? We can help analyse your current marketing strategy and help you decide the right Digital Approach for your business.

Search engine marketing’s greatest strength is that it offers advertisers the opportunity to put their ads in front of motivated customers who are ready to buy at the precise moment they’re ready to make a purchase. No other advertising medium can do this, which is why search engine marketing is so effective and such an amazingly powerful way to grow your business.

Isn’t Google Adwords Expensive?

One of the biggest misconceptions among those new to PPC is that whoever has the largest advertising budget somehow automatically “wins” at Google ads. Fortunately, nothing could be farther from the truth as AdWords focuses primarily on the quality and relevance of ads, not how much advertisers spend.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FACEBOOK ADVERTISING AND GOOGLE ADWORDS?

Although the two platforms are often positioned as competitors, nothing could be further from the truth in a practical sense. Before we look at the various strengths and features of Google AdWords and Facebook Ads, it’s crucial to understand the primary difference between the two ad platforms.

Google AdWords is the world’s largest and most popular PPC (pay per click) advertising platform. Paid search focuses on the targeting of keywords and the use of text-based advertisements. Advertisers using AdWords bid on keywords – specific words and phrases included in search queries entered by Google users – in the hopes that their ads will be displayed alongside search results for these queries. Each time a user clicks on an ad, the advertiser is charged a certain amount of money, hence the name “pay-per-click advertising.

Although advertising on Facebook can be thought of as similar to AdWords, in that advertisers using both platforms are essentially promoting their business via the Internet, this is where the similarities end. Unlike paid search, which helps businesses find new customers via keywords, paid social helps users find businesses based on the things they’re interested in and the ways in which they behave online.

When it comes to the primary difference between Google AdWords and Facebook Ads, you can think of it this way: AdWords helps you find new customers, while Facebook helps new customers find you.

Facebook

Facebook has no rival when it comes to the enormity of its audience. However, rather than exposing advertisers and their messaging to this vast audience, the true strength of Facebook’s immense audience lies in the potential data with which advertisers can target Facebook’s users.

People share almost every conceivable detail of their lives on Facebook. From meeting and marrying partners to the birth of children or the celebration of new career moves, Facebook’s users share the joys and accomplishments of life’s milestones with their friends and networks every single day. They also search for and consume content that aligns with a huge range of personal interests, beliefs, ideologies, and values, presenting advertisers with a unique opportunity to tailor advertising messaging to target audiences in ways previously considered impossible, or even unimaginable.

Many newcomers to paid social ask the same question, namely “Does Facebook advertising work?” By now, the answer should be clear – yes it does, and remarkably well. However, rather than view Facebook as the world’s largest potential billboard, advertisers should consider Facebook as a way to get closer to their ideal customers than they ever thought possible.

Social media Facebook ads are targeted to users based on their location, demographic, and profile information and are more like display ads than search ads. They should be used to generate demand, not fulfil it. Users are on Facebook to connect with their friends, not searching for products in their newsfeed. They see product and it may tempt them to purchase or learn more but it isn’t their primary focus.

On Facebook, you can target users by:
  • Location
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Interests
  • Connections
  • Relationship Status
  • Languages
  • Education
  • Workplaces

Each option can be useful and we tend to use location, age, gender, and interests including work to build audiences for specific products or services. 80% of all Internet users use Facebook. Even 65% of adults over the age of 65 use Facebook. It has billions of users and most of them check their Facebook page multiple times per day. Regardless of who your customers are, they are using Facebook. And, they use it every day. Therefore, one of the most important benefits of Facebook advertising is that your customers use it daily.

Google Adwords

Search engine marketing, or SEM (Google Adwords), is one of the most effective ways to grow your business in an increasingly competitive marketplace. With millions of businesses out there all vying for the same eyeballs, it’s never been more important to advertise online, and search engine marketing is the most effective way to promote your products and grow your business.

Google’s advertising offerings are split across two primary networks – the Search network, and the Display network. The Search network encompasses the entirety of the Google as a search engine, and advertisers can bid on millions of keywords and phrases to target prospective customers.

The Google Display Network, which offers advertisers more visual ads such as banners, spans approximately 98% of the World Wide Web, making it a great choice for advertisers who want to accomplish marketing goals that aren’t necessarily as conversion-driven as those of PPC ads, such as raising brand awareness on a large scale using banner ads.

One of the biggest misconceptions among those new to PPC is that whoever has the largest advertising budget somehow automatically “wins” at Google ads. Fortunately, nothing could be farther from the truth as AdWords focuses primarily on the quality and relevance of ads, not how much advertisers spend.

The more relevant an ad is to the user, the better the experience that user is likely to have – and, therefore, the more likely they are to continue using Google as their go-to search engine. For this reason, Google AdWords rewards relevance and quality above all other factors. This is why smart advertisers with relevant, optimized, high-quality ads rarely have to bid as highly as advertisers with poorer ads.

Certain keywords may cost more than others though so budget is important. Both Google AdWords and Facebook Ads are incredibly powerful advertising platforms that cater to virtually every type of business. When evaluating each solution’s strengths and potential applications, it’s also apparent that the two platforms should be viewed in a complementary, rather than adversarial.

SPONSORSHIPS

Among the many marketing strategies that a company can use to promote its products and services, sponsorship is one of the few that has the potential for huge payoffs.

Sponsoring events, trade shows and exhibitions can have an incredible return on investment. A carefully selected sponsorship can give you a lot of bang for your marketing buck, boost your brand reach and supplement your marketing efforts.

There are plenty of reasons to sponsor an event:
  1. Put your business front and centre
  2. Get in front of your target audience
  3. Brand awareness & media exposure
  4. Increase your reach and exposure to new customers
  5. Reconnect with past customers
  6. Engage with a captive audience
  7. Generate leads
  8. Supporting your community
Events aren't just about the event you are sponsoring. Think about all the ways the organisers have promoted the event - social media, magazine, radio, emails and possibly even television commercials. As a sponsor your name and logo will potentially be used during these outreach campaigns.

It doesn't end there though. A logo on a TV commercial isn't going to do too much for your business. You need to have an activation at the event or create a fun and engaging way to talk to your audience.

Sponsoring an event can be well worth the investment if you are clear about your goals. A well-planned event presence can generate quality leads, deliver great ROI, increase your brand reach and exposure, put you in front of your target market and best of all, build your brand’s authority.
